Lilly Drumeva, bandleader and lead vocalist for the bluegrass band Lilly of the West, will be our guest for a house concert on Saturday, March 5.  This will be a unique opportunity to spend an evening in a small, intimate setting with an incredible singer and one of the best representatives of the vital European bluegrass music scene.  Lilly has been referred to as "Europe's Allison Krauss," winning over audiences throughout Europe, as well as performing at the 1998 IBMA Awards in Louisville, Kentucky.

She formed her band in 1996 and soon after, their debut album was released followed by appearances at major festivals in the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, the Netherlands and in the UK. In May 1998 the band performed at the first EUROPEAN WORLD OF BLUEGRASS Convention in The Netherlands where Lilly of the West was awarded "BEST EUROPEAN BAND OF THE YEAR" among the 40 participants.  In 1999 Lilly of the West released their second album "Sail on the Wild, Wild Wind" (which Archie reviewed for Bluegrass Unlimited) on Strictly Country Records in the Netherlands. A third album followed in 2000, entitled "Dear & Kind" which was inspired by the band's native Bulgarian folk music.

The band performed in September 1999 at the biggest cultural event in Bulgaria, the "APOLONIA FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS" together with some of the finest Bulgarian artists. They had a 2 hours concert in the oldest cathedral of Sozopol, an ancient town at the Black Sea coast, which was broadcast live on National TV. Lilly of the West played for a wide, purely Bulgarian audience who were curious to learn more about the style called "bluegrass."

Since May 2003, Lilly has been based in Sofia, Bulgaria and, in addition to her work with her band, she is co-owner and presenter at Retro Radio Network, Bulgaria's most popular private radio station. She also co-hosts a country & bluegrass show on Bulgaria's National Radio.  Lilly of the West is the only bluegrass band in Bulgaria but they shine amongst the best bluegrass talent in the World.

Lilly has several appearances on Bulgarian national TV, radio and in magazines.  She has appeared on the cover of the famous Bulgarian journal "Women Today" and was voted "Woman of the month" for her international achievements in the music business.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity and join us on March 5 for a very special night.  We are in Crownsville, MD, a few miles northwest of Annapolis.  Directions will be provided when you make your reservation.
